Fashion Soldiers march down the catwalk as Karl Lagerfeld's creations came to life. The Chanel Cruise 2013 collection was showcased in Singapore at the Loewen Cluster a misused military quarters outside the unique skyscrapers of downtown Singapore.
The Chanel ambassador Zhou Xun, actress Dakota Fanning, Fann Wong seat in FROW of course. As supermodel Cara Delevingne and Xiao Wen Ju, He Sui and Ming Xi walked the Chanel Catwalk.
The old black and white buildings was reconstructed into long white-washed galleries, shutting out the tropical heat with black and white shutters. After a good old scrub of the peeling ceilings and so forth, Karl felt that this building offered a old romantic charm and imperfections that a new build sometimes would lack. Ladies see imperfections can be perceived as Beauty.....
The Cruise collection marks the 100th anniversary of Coco-Chanel's start of her boutique Chanel in France, Deauville,1913. The collection is a mix of British colonial style meets Parisian Riveria Chic.
The presentation of the collection was to be Chanel's first worldwide debut in Singapore - known for severe high temperatures throughout October to June when the collection is available to purchase.
Karl sent his 80 strong "Fashion Army" down the runway in wide palazzo trousers, long cardigans, sailor striped tunics teamed with short jackets and mini crochet dresses. Did you see the cricket chic wear mixed in elegantly? Or, the two -tone v-neck sweaters, shirts, a tie and a Singapore cricket bat with shin pads... It's a knock out!!
Personally, I was drawn to the pencil dresses decorated and defined with lacquered straw. The heavily embroidered dresses by Lesage decked in blue sequins and strings of pearls, Chanel's signature tweed never left the catwalk and pops up here and there, not to forget the beige and blue silk dresses.
Don't forgetting the Deco dresses worn with trousers (that's gangster chic) the oversized embroidered coat as worn by Cara is on my must-haves list, with delicate black lace decorating the collarbone, teamed with crisp white trousers. Karl made sure you could purchase both his and hers - just in case!! (You feel like doing a his n hers styling day)
